To Nitro Or Not To Nitro – That is the Question. Nitro Discussion Part 2
By a special guest, Winkermouse
Last time we discussed when to use Nitros during NitroType races. Today we explore whether you should be using Nitros at all.
Many of you reading will immediately protest such as, “Shouldn’t we use all our nitros all the time?”
Well, that depends.
Nitros are for boosts if you have it planned out.
Plus you have to see in that particular moment and race, do you have a chance to win. If not, it is better to save your nitros. Let’s do the math, the average racer will earn $3,000 or so per race excluding special event bonus and consecutive race bonus. If you use two nitros that is $4,000 and if you use three that is $6,000. You will be losing cash.
Now if you are using nitros to earn special event prizes such as the current Xmas event then go for it. Otherwise save your nitros!
Lastly, I sometimes find nitros can be a detriment to your typing speed and accuracy.
If you are playing Nitrotype to practice typing then you can type out the whole text in some races to practice for real. Nitros are unnatural because you have to train your brain to hit the “Enter” button to skip a word. Sometimes it can disrupt your flow. How many of you have experienced a momentary freeze after hitting the enter button? I certainly have many times.
Also, nitros can be frustrating if you miss the word you want to use it on. I bet some of you have used nitros right at a punctuation mark or the end of a word only to realize that you have not made it to the next word that originally intended to use the nitro on. That can cause confusion and anger. Talk about tilt!
So use nitros only if you are prepared and practiced to use them smoothly. Yes, even using nitros takes practice!
Until next time.
