A Nitro Type Story (Part 3)
By a guest contributor and co-founder of team C0LD,
Now we are heading into the home stretch. Taking a quick glance up in the screen box where you can see the other racers’ vehicles represented by sideways rectangular grey boxes on a map. Your vehicle is represented by a red version and it is still in third place. You continue to type at full speed never relenting even while looking at the statistics. You now encounter two additionally long words. You still have two nitros available whereas your human competitors have expended all three of theirs. As those long two words arrive you realize this is it, this is your opportunity. You hit the enter key twice in a row and your vehicle blasts forward and you shoot into the lead with two sentences with 20 words left to type.
You plow ahead focused on every next letter. You are engaged full throttle. As you near the finish line, Nitro Type has a trick up its sleeve that causes extra excitement. All the vehicles on the mini-map start to slow down as they approach the finish line and sort of “hang” there. It is a nice illusion that creates a feeling that the vehicles behind you are getting much closer. It is the reverse of those rear view mirrors, in this case those chasing you can be farther than they look. Either way, you need to focus because that optical illusion can cause you to mess up. Many other racers have faltered in the home stretch with this added stress. But not you.
You are laser focused and type out of the last word and then the period at the end of the final sentence. You are done as the screen flips to the finish line showing your vehicle first to cross.
You did it!
You won the race to receive over $3,000 in Nitro dollar winnings. You beat the Wampus vehicle so you win the bonus $50,000. You beat two random competitors. Most importantly you beat one of your arch rivals to best the series 11 to 10. You are victorious and how sweet it is! To the victor goes the spoils.
You take a moment to enjoy the final standings. You typed 110 words per minute, a new record for you! Plus you had a nice 98% accuracy to boot.
You enjoy this moment and linger at the results screen for another 5 seconds.
Then you click the “Race” button to enter the next race to start anew.
That is the beauty of Nitro Type. The thrill of victory. The ability to jump right back in for yet another exciting race. That is why you and I play Nitro Type. That is why you are reading this three part blog post.
There is nothing more adrenaline pumping that getting ready for a race.
Who knows, you might be my next opponent. See you on the race track!
